At this point the case had only the hammer and damper assemblies left. I now noticed that the hammers did not form a straight line but were very uneven all the way across the piano.
![]() Here's a close up of the uneven mounted hammers.
![]() I thought this had something to do with some sort of uneven mounting, but after removing one of the hammer modules I found that the individual hammers are uneven in the plastic housing itself. Here's a picture of the hammers hanging free in a removed hammer module. Is this normal?
![]() Close examination also revealed the extent of the deterioration of the hammer tips as well. And, yes, that's dirt all over the hammers.
![]() I removed and laid aside the hammer and damper assemblies which left only the case, the action rail, and the wooden frame with the keyboard guide pins.

Finally I removed the wood frame and was left with only the empty case. Now the fun really begins!
