Blue Ridge Beckons Once Again

At long last!!! Here's the latest interstellar transmission from the space jam goddess herself!

GREETINGS!

I am so happy to finally be sitting at my own computer (however ancient), at my own desk (wonderfully cluttered) in my very own pad (small but cozy!). It's been a while since I updated the news... and well, there always seem to be these outrageously long stretches of time between news updates... but that's because I have to WRITE them and that requires so many little things (like a desk and a pen)... no really, it's not that there has been no news, really, lots of news, but where to start?

Where I am is good. After living in Sedona more or less for three years, I decided it would be wonderful to come to Virginia and instead of staying one month and trying to cram in all the gigging and visiting everyone and the mountains, I decided to come for like, six months or so and find "the little place in the country" where I could once again renew myself and get organized and stuff. Well, I just now found the little place in the country. It took me two months, and I was quite about to haul back to AZ (not sure what good that would've done) because, you see, I really feel like I need to be in VA right now to get anything done. Sedona, Arizona has this strange effect on people. Maybe because it's so outrageously beautiful, you just feel like you're in paradise and why do anything at all?! You've arrived! So, ambition tends to get lost and focus blurs and years go by. Well, enough, but it's time to get to work if for nothing else because I LIKE to work (Jennifer can explain that astrologically for you). Anyway...

So, it took a long time to get settled and find the right place. You see, where I lived in the country is now quite the happening place for many a city folk, and there are very few places to rent. So, one day (after spending two months at my MOM's... yes, it's TRUE!), I drove a couple mountain ranges over and visited a lovely college town called Harrisonburg. I discovered farms and scenic beauty, Mennonites, a dog food factory, cool coffeehouses, hip clubs where all the young and intense flock, corn, corn and more corn, and sheep! I am living on a sheep farm. It's not baaad, but when asked today by a club owner what KIND of sheep are on the farm, I was at a loss. I didn't know there were kinds of sheep... I just said, uh, the white fluffy kind.

Also, did you know that Rockingham county is THE Turkey Capitol of the US? Impressive place to live. I like living in the boonies and still being 15 minutes to a Kinko's copies. So... just moved in two weeks ago and I am getting organized and having a blaaast.

Speaking of email... a big thanks to all of those MEGA awesome fans who came thru for me with my fund raiser. If you don't know about it would like to find out, just email me at vyktoria@sedona.net and I will forward you the scoop. I have raised about 1/2 of my goal (whoo hoo!) and so it is still going on. The fundraiser is to help sponsor the networking and promotion of the new CD... to help with the 1,000 myriad schemes of how to get the CD to the right people and all the 1,000 myriad utensils to do which with. One of the amazing things about this fundraiser was rediscovering some of the coolest fans and ones that go way back in time. One fan who contributed used to see me at a club when I very first started playing out solo and would go to this weekly open mike. He has been following my career ever since... but I wouldn't know him if I saw him. Weird how it works like that. You never know who's out there watching, and it is touching to see who is.

Part of the Virginia plan was to come back (and get organized!) and start REALLY focusing in on the new CD thing. Yes, you remember the new CD... Andrew Giddings, Tullboy keyboardist extraordinare, has FINISHED the CD and we must say it sounds pretty damn cool. Andrew is truly the wizard of production and we have a great new disc. We are currently networking it around to the powers on high... so no release date yet. Once we are ready to release the CD, or if we find the right label, then we will notify everyone on the email list and snail mail list, so SIGN UP if you haven't already!

I will be playing gigs in the meantime in Virginia, and possibly more on the east coast. I am really gonna keep my focus on the new CD and getting it around to open ears and minds. If anyone has any recommendations (gigs, labels, radio), I am always open to them.

I am grateful to be in the flow of creativity once again.
Love,
V
