News From The UK!
Here's the latest, from the Goddess herself!
Hello!
I am happy to be writing this web news update. I would've written earlier but I've been procrastinating, as I am having a nice, long vacation from it all.
I am currently experimenting with living in England. I'm not gigging and I don't even drive yet! What am I doing? A lot of writing and music arranging, some reading and just enjoying this beautiful area. After playing music "out" for 14 years, I am now able to do music "in" for awhile...something I have wanted for a long time; to be able to get into a writing groove and not have to switch hats into business mode.
It's going good. I have written several new songs and have plenty of interesting material to choose from for the next CD.
Yes, the next CD. As some of you know, I will be working with Andrew Giddings, Jethro Tull's extremely talented keyboardist, on the new CD. We will start recording in January-ish with no real deadline to finish...alot of experimenting, no idea what it will be like, just keeping it fresh and unknown for now. I have a great feeling about it.
I was a big fan of Andrew's long before we met on last year's Tull tour. I highly recommend the two Ian Anderson "solo" CDs that Andrew is featured prominently on: The Secret Language of Birds, and especially Divinities (one of my very favorite records of all time). He is just a musical wizard and I am very honored to be working with him.
Meanwhile, spending this Fall in England has been wonderful. I have been sloshing through sheep fields, down footpaths thru farms that lead to scenic stone villages and tea and scones...a big change from Sedona, but it is so beautiful here that I don't really mind that it rains all the time. I am having a lot of fun exploring this sweet country and sampling some of the fine cuisine of our many public houses.
As some of you may recall, my last UK food report was not so favorable, but I guess things grow on you because it seems to be much better this time. Ok, well, I still haven't put coleslaw in my baked potato or developed much of a taste for spotted dick, but there are other things such as STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING that just rock!
Fortunately, the local pub (walking distance) has pretty good food, featuring, believe-it-or-not, vegetarian yorkshire pudding...some kind of crispy, batter bowl gravy-veg thingy topped off with little mashed potato whatsits. Yum!
Speaking of food, I will be heading back to Virginia for Christmas and New Year's, and I am looking forward to seeing my much missed family and friends. I hope to get out to Arizona for a week or so in January before returning to the UK.
I would like to do some shows in the UK and US, maybe when the new CD is out, or even before. I know one thing: I cannot book myself anymore; I must have an agent for that (preferably a human agent, no reptiles). I did it long enough and I am like Totally Over It, Dude. Ugh! I'd rather not play out at all than to go back to doing all the booking and promoting myself. So, hopefully, I will find the right people to help with getting my music out (or they will find me).
Meanwhile, you can get everything you need (CDs, info, soundclips, action-packed diary updates) right here from this awesome web site, designed and produced by the awesome Jennifer (who also gives an awesome astrology reading).
Thanks for all your support and I promise, if I am ever elected President............it will most likely be in another star system.
Happy Holidays,
Vyktoria
