Joe Local's Sound Bytes October 1994 Vicky Pratt Keating should have been an author. She should have been a composer. She should have been a vocalist. Instead she is all three. This "acoustic styled" release is an incredible look at Vicky. As an author, Vicky speaks through metaphors as a poet; she can put you in New York in mid-October as a storyteller, and can go straight for your heart as a romantic. As a composer, Vicky has given her metaphors, poems, stories and romance a soundtrack to match. While I'm sure the other musicians on this release put forth some great arrangement ideas -- she thanked all of them for their input on the inside cover -- the end product proves that Vicky has a very professional and creative ear. As a vocalist, Vicky's range, clarity, and distinctive voice completes the signature. Not only can she make remarkable sounds when she sings, but she plays the guitar exceptionally well. I enjoyed all 14 songs on Vicky's Blue Apples release. If you enjoy acoustic or new age music, you will definitely enjoy this one. But I think that no matter what your favorite style may be, Vicky Pratt Keating will be an artist to enjoy. |
